A theme is developing.  Bangkok (and to some extent Phnom Penh) and now Kuala Lumpur have been capitals that I’ve struggled to warm to.  Kuala Lumpur especially is chaotic, hyperactive, gritty and lung-choking.  But there is the Petronas Towers.

The Food

Numerous hawker stands are dotted around the Jalans and Lebuhs churning out incredible 10p veggie samosas, delicious 60p laksas, tandoori sets, ais kecang, 80p Char Kaoy Kak (rice cakes, radishes, spring onions, bean sprouts, dark soy sauce, eggs and fiery chillies).
